Fallen Feather was developed around a period story of memory, loss and the possibility of renewed connection. A keepsake links Tessa's family history with a composer's grief. Music eventually becomes the means by which they hear one another.
The score begins with cello, with a violin voice joining later. This passage from a solitary instrument toward a duet mirrors the story's emotional movement. The visual setting is an old music room, balancing warm lamplight with the cool light of a moonlit balcony.
