Program notes

Conceived as an intimate closing piece for Beyond the Glow, The Ocean Remembers places a warm, low cello at the center of an underwater nocturne. The musical direction combines long, breathing phrases with sparse felt piano, soft ambient textures and a distant low male choir sustaining wordless vowels.

The intended movement is tidal: a quiet opening, a luminous expansion, an exposed cello passage and one gentle emotional swell before a warm resolution. The emphasis is on tenderness and space, with widely separated drum pulses supporting the calm rather than driving it forward.

Its visual world is still being developed. The idea is to carry the same sense of depth and suspended light into an ocean setting, leaving room for both the instrument and the surrounding stillness.
